Meet Our Team

The staff at ProMotion Physical Therapy are dedicated to patient centered treatment with the highest quality of care. We are passionate about our profession and our primary focus is our patients and their complete return to function.



Geoffrey Bonar, PT


Geoff graduated from the University of North Dakota in 1984. Geoff founded ProMotion in 1994 and continues as practice manager. He continues to enjoy patient care and specializes in manual therapy treatment techniques and is fascinated with problem solving gait biomechanics in all ages, including orthotic fabrication.  Part of his 30 years in practice has been the development of sports and  industrial physical therapy programs, including  job-site assessment and functional capacity evaluations.  Geoff’s philosophy can be summed up in 3 words: “Never give up”.




    Sonya Anderson, PT


    Sonya graduated with a Master’s in physical therapy from the University of Nebraska in 1997. She joined ProMotion Physical Therapy that same year and has developed her physical skills for the treatment of spinal and joint problems. Her passion in therapy is the Postural Restoration Institute approach to pain and dysfunction, with countless hours of educationa and application of her skills.  This passion is only equaled by her love of her agility competition dogs.  Her soft-spoken nature and touch with patients are hallmarks of her care.




      Myron Sorestad, PT


      Myron graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy in 1992. He began practicing in Rapid City in 1992 and has been with ProMotion Physical Therapy since 1997. Myron has over 20 years of experience treating neuromusculoskeletal conditions. His treatment approach is evidence based incorporating the use of manual therapy and individualized exercise prescription. Myron has received instruction in manual therapy through the North American Institute of Orthopedic Manipulative Therapy (NAIOMT), American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists (AAOMPT) and Swodeam Consulting. Myron is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists (AAOMPT) and is a certified provider of the ErgoScience Physical Work Performance Evaluation.




        Philip Busching, DPT


        Phil Busching PT, DPT has been employed at ProMotion Physical Therapy since 1997. He earned a BA in psychology from Clemson University in 1988, a Master’s in PT from Mayo Clinic’s School of Health-Related Sciences in 1995 and a transitional Doctorate in PT from Regis University in 2007. In addition to sharing his expertise in treating back pain, post-operative conditions and peripheral joint pain, Phil specializes in vestibular and rehabilitation and balance problems. His outside interests include all-types of bicycling and spending time with his wife, Nancy, and two sons, Levi and Luther. He is a charter member and former president of the Black Hills Mountain Bike Association and developed the charitable “Black Hills Back 40” mountain bike race each summer. He currently coaches youth soccer and is an avid student of the game.  Phil’s affable persona and his communication skills makes therapy work enjoyable for all of his patients.




          Nancy Busching, PT


          Nancy grew up in Chatfield, MN. She attended Luther College in Decorah, IA 1987-1991 earning a B.A. in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. She received her MPT in 1995 from Mayo School of Health-Related Sciences in Rochester, MN. Nancy started with ProMotion Physical Therapy in Oct. 1997 and took a 1.5 year sabbatical to work as a PT in Ojai, CA, returning to Rapid City in 2008. She specializes in musculoskeletal injuries, neck pain and headaches, women’s issues, manual therapy for spinal and joint problems and return to maximum sport performance. Nancy competes locally in mountain bike events and enjoys hiking, cooking and spending time with her husband, Phil Busching, and her sons Levi and Luther. She feels blessed to be able to serve her patients to allow them to reach their maximum physical potential.




            Kevin Sobolik, DPT


            Kevin received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of South Dakota in 2008 and joined ProMotion in 2011. He is currently the only provider in Rapid City that is certified in ASTYM, a specialized treatment for tendinopathy and scar tissue. Kevin and his wife Jenn live in Hill City with their son and daughter . He enjoys the majority of his free time outdoors, exercising, and spending time with his family. Philosophical approach to therapy/health/life, in a sentence: Life is Awesome, your body is awesome, experience it!




              Dawn Ellis, DPT


              Dawn’s Primary areas of PT practice/interests include post-surgical acute care for spinal surgeries along with outpatient care. Dawn is ProMotion’s primary therapist attending to patients at the Black Hills Surgical Hospital. Interests: Orthopedic, Acute care

              Recreational/personal interests: Recreational: hiking, running, walking, having family time especially on Sundays, spending time with friends, movies, and reading. Her favorite book is “Tuesday’s with Morrie.”

              Dawn’s philosophical approach to therapy/health/life, in a sentence: Life is full of surprises and adventure which can reveal more than what you see.




                 

                Elke Kopriva, PT


                Elke is a german trained Physical Therapist, who received US Physical Therapy Accreditation from the University of New Mexico in 1989.

                During her years of practice she has developed expertise in the treatment of Spine disorders with focus on manual Therapy. Extensive continuing education courses attended provide a variety of Therapy tools for her practice. Elke is also experienced in providing care for patients recovering from surgeries, and patients with general Orthopedic conditions, TMJ disorders, balance problems and custom foot Orthoses.



                  Ian T Kopriva, DPT


                  Ian T Kopriva grew up here in Rapid City, SD exploring the wonderful Black Hills waters and wildlife. He returned to the area after studying at the University of South Dakota for both his undergraduate and graduate degrees. Ian earned a doctorate in physical therapy with an interest in orthopedics. He took part in several research projects involving athletes at the State and National Senior Olympic Games. These projects focused on the correlation of posture to shoulder function and strength with relation to the individuals mortality.

                  Ian has a wife and daughter who keep him busy at home. Ian’s interests include fly fishing, hunting, and staying active on the trails of the Black Hills.

                  Ian preaches hard work and confidence. His philosophy is “Wake up in the morning with determination, go to sleep with satisfaction!
